WestJet Unaccompanied Minor
WestJet offers unaccompanied minor services as a paid facility for parents whose children are traveling alone. A WestJet Unaccompanied Minor fee of $100 is charged, which covers the cost of dedicated supervision and special assistance provided to the child throughout the journey. Please note that applicable taxes may be added to this fee, depending on the route and booking conditions.
What Is the Minimum Age for a Child to Fly Alone on WestJet?
WestJet’s age-based travel rules are structured to ensure safety and proper supervision:
Ages 0–8: Children in this age group are not permitted to travel alone under any circumstances.
Ages 8–12: Unaccompanied travel is allowed, but enrollment in the Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service is mandatory.
Ages 12–17: These passengers are considered young travelers and may fly alone without requiring the UMNR service, though parents may still choose it for added support.
